MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT
Dear Members,
As we approach the end of another year, I would like to take a moment to sincerely thank each and every one of you for your dedication, commitment, and countless hours given to Eimeo Surf Life Saving Club throughout the year.
The season has certainly started at pace, with a very busy and successful Nippers program and the Club hosting our first Branch Carnival in many years. These milestones required an enormous amount of planning, volunteering, and teamwork, and they showcased Eimeo SLSC at its very best. Thank you to everyone who contributed their time and energy to making these events such a success.
As we move through the Christmas and holiday period, please remember that if you are unable to attend a rostered patrol, it is important that you advise your Patrol Captain as early as possible. If your patrol group cannot meet min numbers they must try to find fill-ins within the Club. If this does not work, please ensure Club Captain Andrew Malouf is notified as soon as possible so arrangements can be made.
At this time, we also pause to acknowledge the tragic events of the Bondi terrorist attack. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, first responders, and the wider community affected by this senseless act.
Stinger Suit Update – Marine Stinger Drags
As you may be aware from recent communications from Surf Life Saving Queensland (SLSQ), the material requirements for stinger suits to be worn when conducting marine stinger drags have now been finalised.
The Eimeo stinger suits with EIMEO SLSC on the collar, sold in 2025, exceed the SLSQ requirement of a minimum of 180 GSM, 80% nylon / 20% spandex. This has been validated through third-party testing, with the fabric weight confirmed at 200 GSM and a composition of greater than 80% nylon.
We are pleased to advise that SLSQ has endorsed the use of a single Eimeo SLSC stinger suit for conducting marine stinger drags. Members are no longer required to wear two stinger suits or a neoprene wetsuit when wearing the tested suit.
Please ensure you continue to comply with all other requirements outlined in the POM, including the use of appropriate boots, gloves, and taping.
The Club currently has limited stock of the tested stinger suits available. To ensure members have what they need to safely conduct drags, additional suits will be ordered in the new year. Surf Life Saving Queensland will also be distributing stinger suits for patrol use, which are expected to arrive in February 2026.
Q & A
Who is entitled to a free Eimeo stinger suit?
Priority will be given to members who hold the Marine Stinger Award. Once allocation within this group is complete, we may consider issuing suits to other award holders who patrol. This decision will happen in the new year.
Can red and yellow lycra patrol stinger suits be worn for stinger drags?
No. These garments do not meet the SLSQ material requirements. If you are wearing one of these, you must put on an additional stinger suit to conduct a drag.
Do the earlier “new design” stinger suits (without EIMEO SLSC on the collar) meet the requirements?
The supplier has advised these suits are made from the same material; however, they have not been independently tested. As compliance cannot be assured, members conducting drags must either:
• wear a tested suit with EIMEO SLSC on the collar, or
• wear two stinger suits.
Do I have to wear an Eimeo SLSC stinger suit to conduct a drag?
If you are not wearing one of the tested suits with EIMEO SLSC on the collar, you must wear two stinger suits.
If I miss out on a suit from the current stock, will I get one?
Yes. A further order will be placed in the new year, and members who miss out now will be able to obtain a suit from that order.

Social Media and Communications at Eimeo SLSC
Social Media Age Restrictions Update
At Eimeo SLSC, the safety and wellbeing of our members always come first.
Due to current social media age restrictions and safety requirements, the club will not be using any platforms that do not meet these standards.
We are in the process of selecting a safe and compliant communication platform for the season ahead. Some patrol groups are trialling the TEAMS App to enable further rollout soon. Please familiarise yourself with the changes
Further details will be sent via email as soon as the new communication systems are set up.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support
